A Month in the Life of the NGPF Website (April 2022)
Which pages on the NGPF website are visited most frequently? Which NGPF Arcade games are played the most? How many countries have NGPF users? Answers to these questions and more!
It's been a few years, 4 to be exact, since I analyzed how teachers use our website. What's notable is that in those four years, the community of financial educators using the NGPF website (www.ngpf.org) has jumped from 10,000 to more than 60,000. Here's the highlights from April 2022:
- More than 3,000 different webpages on the site were visited at least five times in the month! Teachers tell us they love the comprehensiveness of our content and it's revealing how deep teachers dig to find what they need. Our enhanced search tool makes that process even easier and faster.
- You come to the site looking for curriculum. The Unit page which is the gateway to find resources and lessons on a given topic is the second most visited page after the home page. Rounding out the top 5 are: NGPF Arcade (#3), Semester Course (#4), and Full Year Course (#5). The latter two courses have grown as more states adopt guaranteed courses and educators look for turnkey solutions.
- Which units were most popular in the month? Types of Credit, Taxes, Investing and Budgeting were the top 4.
- Top 3 resource types: Interactive Library, Question of the Day and FinCap Friday. Note that most receive the QoD and FinCap Friday via the daily NGPF Blog Blast.
- Favorite NGPF Blog post: 21 Personal Finance Movies and Documentaries
- Favorite Arcade Games (in order of popularity): STAX, Money Magic and Payback
- When there are more than 3,000 webpages on your site viewed monthly, there have to be some hidden gems. Here's a few you might find valuable:
- We know resumes and college applications list accomplishments, how about getting your students to reflect on their failings by creating a failure resume
- A picture of a pair of eyes was placed above a donation box. Did donations increase or decrease? Find out the answer in this NGPF Question of the Day.
- What are the trends in home prices in your community? Find out using this tool from the Federal Reserve.
- Wondering about the creative genius behind the award winning NGPF Arcade games? You will certainly enjoy this podcast with Jenny Nicholson.

- We had some international visitors too, with users from more than 100 different countries. Here are the top 5: Canada, India, Philippines, Brazil and United Kingdom with Australia not far behind (perhaps our former colleague Laura Matchett can boost those numbers!)
- In terms of other external sites referring users to our site…
- SaverLife, a non-profit that helps build financial security, was #1
- Users also came to us through CNBC's series of articles highlighting NGPF's State of Financial Education report and profile on Yanely Espinal, Jump$tart Clearinghouse (thanks to the team at Jump$tart), Wealth 101 at Visual Capitalist site, Connecticut GoOpenCT website where NGPF's middle and high school curriculums were selected as the model for the state, BrainPop, Clever, Schwab Moneywise and Desmos where NGPF has built 35 activities on their curriculum platform.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and your students!
About the Author
Tim Ranzetta
Tim's saving habits started at seven when a neighbor with a broken hip gave him a dog walking job. Her recovery, which took almost a year, resulted in Tim getting to know the bank tellers quite well (and accumulating a savings account balance of over $300!). His recent entrepreneurial adventures have included driving a shredding truck, analyzing executive compensation packages for Fortune 500 companies and helping families make better college financing decisions. After volunteering in 2010 to create and teach a personal finance program at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, Tim saw firsthand the impact of an engaging and activity-based curriculum, which inspired him to start a new non-profit, Next Gen Personal Finance.
