Just One Resource - CALCULATE: How Much Do I Pay in Taxes?
In this weekly blog post, the Curriculum team will highlight Just One Resource from our NGPF collection that maybe doesn't get the attention it deserves. Use it this week or bookmark it for later. |
[The Resource] CALCULATE: How Much Do I Pay in Taxes?
The Gist: Students explore how different factors can have a big impact on how much someone pays in taxes and how much they have leftover to spend on themselves.
The Best Parts:
- Students practice using the H&R Block’s Income Tax Calculator to compare two characters' tax burdens based on their salaries, as well compare marginal vs. effective tax rates
- Using another calculator for state taxes, students explore how living in different states affects how much they owe in taxes
- Lastly, students compare how far the same amount of money goes in different areas by looking at the cost of living to determine how much extra spending money they have
