Just One Resource - COMPARE: Types of Health Insurance Plans
In this weekly blog post, the Curriculum team will highlight Just One Resource from our NGPF collection that maybe doesn't get the attention it deserves. Use it this week or bookmark it for later. |
[The Resource] COMPARE: Types of Health Insurance Plans
The Gist: Students learn about how different types of health insurance plans divide costs between the insurance company and the insured, and dive into the differences between HMO, PPO and POS health insurance plans.
The Best Parts:
- Students learn the basics of the metal plans: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze by watching a helpful MoneyCoach video and determine how much they would have to pay and the actuarial value.
- Then, they continue watching the rest of the video and read an article from Stride to learn about the details of HMO, EPO, PPO, and POS health insurance plans.
- Your students can then take the information they just learned about the different health insurance plans and apply it to them! They get to decide which of the plans work best for them and their budget.
